bs_guard: catching cheaters, not banning them

anti-cheatadminbs_guard

I don’t trust automatic bans. Every server I played that had them, someone legit got banned because of lag or a teleport from a script. So bs_guard does detection only.

It logs to the database and sends a toast to staff that are online. That’s it. No kick, no ban, no cancelling events, no deleting entities. A human looks and decides.

What it checks

  • Teleport: server samples position every second, a jump bigger than the limit is flagged. Legit teleports (spawn, admin goto, extraction) call Allow() first so they don’t count.
  • Speed: on foot, in a vehicle and in aircraft each have their own limit, and it needs a few strikes in a row before flagging.
  • Super jump and noclip: rising too fast on foot, or rising for several samples with collision off.
  • Godmode, spawned weapons, event spam, money jumps, item counts that make no sense.

Every row has a confidence value. Staff can filter by check and by minimum confidence in the F10 menu, there is a new GUARD tab with spectate, goto and copy. One alert per player per check per cooldown so the admins don’t get spammed, repeats get counted in the next row.

All thresholds are in config_guard.lua and the main ones can be changed live in F1 under Anti-cheat.

Still to do

Tune the thresholds with real players. Right now I am the only one testing and I’m not a very good cheater. That’s partly why the alpha is opening, see the apply page.
