The Apocalypse Project
The Apocalypse Project is the post-apocalyptic map that comes with BeyondSurvival. It’s optional. The framework run fine on the vanilla map, nothing in the scripts needs these props.
Version right now is v1.0.6 (updated 18-09-2026). Changelog, screenshots and credits are on the forum thread.
What ships
Section titled “What ships”Everything lives in resources/[map]/[the_apocalypse_project]/:
| Resource | What |
|---|---|
apocalypse-core | shared props and archetypes, the heavy one (~330 MB) |
apocalypse-los-santos | the city |
apocalypse-blaine | Blaine County |
apocalypse-infrastructure | roads, tunnels, highways |
apocalypse-statewide | small stuff all over the state |
apocalypse-interiors | interior bits |
apocalypse-fall-of-the-bridge | Fall of the Bridge (original v1.1) |
apocalypse-last-of-us | The Last of Us map content |
apocalypse-post-apocalyptic | extra placements |
apocalypse-props-overgrown | experimental weathered street light, client side |
apocalypse-ipl | IPL loader (Bob74 style base IPLs) |
Unused Maps, WIP and tools are in the folder too but they are not started. Don’t ensure them.
Enable
Section titled “Enable”In server.cfg:
ensure [the_apocalypse_project]Keep the IPL loader on, it’s on by default and the map is built expecting it.
Disable
Section titled “Disable”Comment it out and restart the server:
# ensure [the_apocalypse_project]Don’t run it together with another whole-map conversion (like the [experimental-pr1] test group). They overlap in tiles, props, collision and roads and you will get a mess.
Already have an IPL loader?
Section titled “Already have an IPL loader?”If you use bob74_ipl or similar, open apocalypse-ipl/config.lua and set:
enabled = false,Only do this if your loader covers the same interiors, otherwise stuff around O’Neil Ranch, Paleto industrial and some vanilla interiors can load wrong or get unstable.
Performance
Section titled “Performance”Short version: the map is heavier than all the scripts. See Performance for the full story.
- Clients download it all on first join,
apocalypse-corealone is around 330 MB. First join is slow, after is cached. - Lot of ymaps have very big streaming extents so much of the map think it’s “in range” at once. That’s why
server.cfghasincrease_pool_sizelines. If you disable the map you can lower them. - 3,507 wreck props are capped at 350 m LOD distance to cut long distance streaming.
- Backup assets were moved out of the streamed folders so players don’t download them.
- Statewide and highway content is next for an optimisation pass.
- Known bugs: some ymaps vanish inside tunnels, a few components missing.
